Steve - First Visit 19/08/2006

being new to fossil collecting, and inspired by a recent trip to Lyme Regis, i decided to drag a few friends down to fairlight for a day on the beach. we had a bit of trouble finding the place at first, due to my poor navigation skills, but eventually made it to the beach. Fairlight is a fantastic place, the scenery is amazing.

i started chatting to two fellas who had been on site from early in the day, one of whom acompanied me, and the two small people i'd taken along, on a walk along the beach. he pointed out footprints and other things of interest. we eventually settled down with them to work on some of the rock that they had broken up in their rather productive session. we found some lepidtes teeth and croc teeth, along with scales and bone fragments. i was very impressed by the friendliness of our impormptue guides and really appreciated the way they were willing to share information with someone who didn't have a clue. if either of the gents who were there ever read this, please mail me at kalon1701@lycos.co.uk. it would be nice to buy you a pint at the smuggler one day. again, many thanks to you both.
